Between a dream of a cow, a calving filmed in real time, a few brief moments of humor and suspense, "Petit Paysan" has made its way through the great cinematographic fresco of French rural life.

Starring the desperate struggle of an independent dairy farmer against the epidemic affecting his herd, Petit Paysan is a masterful psychological thriller in an agricultural environment. Stifling, paranoid, it is nevertheless the tense tale of an obsession that Hubert Charuel tackles this time, the loneliness of the bottom breeder borrowing in front of his camera the accents of an almost mental tragedy, short-circuited in his naturalism by sudden bursts of subjective fever. Humanized, the cows return beings to their most primitive instincts.
